First thoughts. I got of the bus like where am I? All signs are in Hindi and I'm by an electrical plant or at least the power structures. Cross to a better lit area to wait for my ride at around midnight. It was cold. Yes I'm from New York but I left NY in the summer and Delhi was warm like Hyderabad. Thank goodness for my sweatshirt cuz it was chilly. Nice drive across town to the foothills of Mussoorie. Hope to visit Mussoorie on this trip. Dehradun is a nice city very chilly in the morning and evenings but nice and warm in the afternoons when the sun is up. I've gone from listening to Telugu when I go out to listening to Hindi. I'm staying in the office which is downstairs from the family. Nice to see how things are progressing with the kitchen gardens. Such aggressive timelines for this week but it shall be done. In due time I guess. Seems all the flats are 3 family buildings behind a school. There's a stream nearby with a walking path and a village nearby. (village in the sense its semi permanent homes the vast contrast between the well off and the not so well off that some work 7 days a week for their livelihood. I've heard great things about this area so my expectations are high even though it is a work trip.
Last night I got to enjoy mixed chat and papri chat. Tried what I will call chickpeas dal and puri for dinner after a lunch of yummy butter chicken. Seems the Hyderabadi way is to make butter chicken with khaju (cashew) paste where in the north it's tomato based.
So I'm still working from home but now it's not so bad as I'm not alone day in and day out. Hmm what to get my neighbors at Aparna from Dehradun? I am so not used to the cold but then again I didn't bring warm clothes aside from cardigans and my hoodie. I should prob stop wearing slippers everywhere. It's not even that cold but the ground floor isn't well lit so it feels cold even though its nice and sunny outside. Before I leave I must attempt 1 bike ride even if I have to go in khakis.
