Escort RS Cosworth was a complete sport car in road-legal guise, designed to break into Group A rally by homologation. During its launch, pre-requisite for homologation was 5000 units of production, which was reduced to 2500 units in 1993. Objective was designing a car to win World Rally Championship in Group A. So, Ford managed that with a highly tunable engine and safety measures. Design-wise, it was a 3-door hatch with front engine and permanent four-wheel drive train. No doubt it belongs to the group of rare automobiles with only 7145 units produced from 1992 to 1996.
