Satellite imagery is used to identify and map: -
• The species of native and exotic forest trees.
• The effects of major diseases or adverse change in environmental conditions.
• The geographic extent of forests.

This application of satellite imagery has led to the extensive use of imagery by organizations that
have an interest in a range of environmental management responsibilities at a state and national
level.
