When a large crowd was celebrating Bastille Day in the French Riviera city of Nice on Thursday night, a truck loaded with weapons and hand grenades rammed into the crowd and drove onto a sidewalk for more than a mile. The incident killed at least 84 people and the driver also opened fire on revelers before he was shot dead by police. In addition to the dead, another 18 people were in critical condition. There was total chaos in the area.  The suspect was a 31-year-old French-Tunisian man born in Tunisia who was known to French police for committing common crimes but was not known to have any terrorist link.
