Yes in Afghanistan, we have a holiday on Friday, and we do enjoy our holidays. While in Kabul the trend has completely changed unlike the 90's when almost 10% of Kabul had cars, them only the elite class of the city, nowadays, we get to see people from every class going for parties, picnics, gatherings, outings on Fridays. This culture has been going on for centuries, the most positive thing about such gatherings is that there is almost one or two persons, that are beautiful story tellers especially the funny ones about their experiences with the Afghan behavior and reaction at different situations so there is a lot to smile/laugh about at such gatherings, the negative point is, sometimes people get offended by those stories probably, because they target ones nature, character, habits etc. I personally don't agree/enjoy the targeting part, and feel embarrassed at times because I am not able to do anything about it. Never mind, majority of them don't mind or keep quiet while targeted.
Talking about the love for food, we Afghans are known everywhere for our habits of eating junk and heavy foods. Though the trend of fast food is coming slowly in Kabul city, yet you can easily find "Afghani Pulao, Seekh Kebabs with salad in morning, lunch and dinner timings in almost all part of the city, i can say this because the number of local restaurants is huge. On Fridays, majority of us buy meat or slaughter a sheep one day before, use spices on it and keep it in fridge or open air so that the spices mix together. Then the next day, either we make seekh kebabs or use it for karahi, with Afghani pulao and salad.
