GALVANOMETER:
Galvanometer is an electrical instrument for the detection for measurement, if the scale iscalibrated of small current. The principle upon which a galvanometer works is that whenever current is passed through a coil suspended in a magnetic field, a torque is exerted on the coil. A coil C is suspended between the poles of a permanent U-shaped magnet by means of a fine metallic ribbon. The pole faces N and S are made concave and a soft iron cylinder B is fixed between the poles. This makes the field radical, stronger and always parallel to the plane of the coil as the coil rotates. Connection are made to the coil at the leads t and T(daash -). A light pointer or a mirror M is ordinarily used to measure the angular deflection.
