Since the picture I posted last enlarged itself on this site, to the point that you can't even really see it, I feel it necessary to actually SHOW what a Newfoundland dog looks like.

 

 

That's how big they are. HUGE. Twice my weight.

Water rescue dogs. I've heard many, many times that you can't go swimming around them because they keep trying to save you.

They're impressively beautiful.

[Also the dog in Peter Pan - and there are tons of stories about them saving people, by themselves, from ship wrecks. Also, the dog that was with Lewis & Clark on their expeditions.]
