Six goals is the highest tally that the centre back has scored in his seven years with the first team. He has a total of 25.
“Gerard Piqué has always scored goals” said Luis Enrique in his press conference, but this season the defender has been doing so more than ever. Piqué has scored six times in the Champions League, Liga and Spanish Cup, showing that he is not just brilliant at preventing goals, but is also a man who can put the ball in the opposition’s net.
His goal in the 6-1 win against Rayo Vallecano was his 25th in total since joining the first team.
His first goal this season was against APOEL in the Champions League at the Camp Nou, the venue for five of the six he’s scored. He also found the target in home Liga games against Espanyol, Cordobaand Rayo, while the goal he scored on the road came at the Martínez Valero against Elche. He also scored against Villarreal in the cup semi-final, also at the Camp Nou.
