This summer, Google has revealed a new response to the challenges of information retrieval using a small mobile screen: Google Now, an application that tries to anticipate your needs and provide information such as transportation schedules at the same time at the exact moment you need it (see "Google's answer to Siri Thinks Ahead.") now, a start-up called Grokr made a similar experience much more widely available with an application for the iPhone.
Now, if Google is testing the idea of using sensors and other data sources to predict what information a person wants at any given time, Grokr could be an even greater experience. Google is now available to date only a small fraction of Android users with the latest version of the operating system, while Grokr can be installed by any iPhone user. (The application is pending approval from Apple, but Grokr should be available this week).
