Another awesome innovation from Google
You’ll now be able to get Typhoon alerts straight to your phone, as Google has partnered up with PAGASA to make its Public Alerts feature accessible in the PH. The new feature is accessible on either Android or iOS, via Google Search, Google Maps and Google Now.
“One year since the devastating typhoon Haiyan, how will people discover emergency information online? Thanks to PAGASA’s information, you can clearly see exactly when to expect landfall or when the storm will come pass through your area,” Google Pulic Alerts program manager said during a press conference.
This makes things easier for people looking for relevant information during typhoons or other natural disasters and calamities. Users will also be able to quickly look up information depending on where they are.
“If you’re in Cebu City and you want to see if there’s a typhoon warning, you can quickly find that information from PAGASA on Search,” she said.
Google has integrated the alerts to push through to your phone if you’re using Google Now. You can also check relevant storm tracks via Google Maps.
