Hair: Girl's Crowning Glory

Posted on at

Girls do have a lot of things to take care of-starting from the very roots of the hair to the tiniest nail of our toes. Girls also have a lot of accessories to put on, such as: headbands, clips, earrings, etc. For a natural girl, not much is needed, just clean face and great look.

Most girls take their time experimenting on ways to enhance each look. Personally, I experiment on my hair. I have done several hairstyles which others would love and others to criticize; either way, I do not care. You may wonder why I wouldn’t, but it is my personal choice. It means to me that I am open to new possibilities for a better version of me.

My first hairstyle wasn’t that much. Since I was in HighSchool, long hair was the trend and I wouldn’t dare cutting my hair and make myself a pixie princess. Long hair for some means strength and beauty. For some places in Asia, the longer hair you have, the more noble and beautiful you are. It has always been said that our hair is a `Girl’s crowning glory` and I took it literally.

As years pass, different hairstyles ranging from mid-length to bob cuts have been swirling all over fashion trends. I have thought of changing my image to a more mature look and cut my hair mid-length. My friends were shock when they saw me changed my image. For some reason, I came up with a conclusion that your look changes as you change your hairstyle. It can either lengthen your face, flatten your forehead or even show off your cheekbones.

I have even curled my hair just to see if I look good on it. There was a time when curls was the biggest hair trend and girls are dying to curl theirs. Curls, in that time, symbolizes sexiness or seductiveness. Unfortunately, I didn’t seem to like the image I was on. I didn’t look sexy or seductive that time (haha!) but it was worth the try.

My latest hairstyle gets shorter as time goes by but it was because summer is the season. My friends would tease me but I just laugh along with them. Some would adore and praise my hair, some, definitely hates it. My hair is above shoulder length but not above my chin. Some say my image changed from a `cutie-patotie to a career woman on the go` and some would say (which I did love to hear) I look like a Korean-superstar. It is flattering to hear them say and so I just went on with that style.

Probably most girls are now thinking of what kind of hairstyle suits them, but I actually suggest that girls should go and change their hairstyle not only because it is the trend or because they look good on it but because they are comfortable with it. The most challenging part of a girl`s life is maintaining or taking care of their hair. Some hair are coarse and dry and wouldn’t even stay in place and that drives a girl nuts. So instead of following the crowd, I would say (based on experience) try a hairstyle that fits your personality to differentiate from the others and have a great hair-day!.
