Hands That Rock the Cradle
Posted on at
International Women’s Day is celebrated the world over on 8 March each year. This year’s theme is “Empower Rural Women - End Hunger & Poverty.” During March, Diplomatically Incorrect will be presenting film reports and blogs dedicated to women and their issues. It is the woman whose hands rock the cradle and provide life’s sustenance, education, and well-being for future generations. Naida Sekic, a member of the Bosnian & Herzegovinian diaspora now living in Sweden, has written us once again. Here is her Ode of Love, dedicated to her ultimate teacher, benefactor, and best friend - her MOTHER. Brought to you by Susan Sacirbey and DIPLOMATICALLY INCORRECT “FOR YOU, A THOUSAND TIMES OVER,” By, Naida Sekic You are the source of all good in my life. You are my teacher. You have taught me the value of respect and humility; the value of modesty and kindness, and the value of generosity and goodness. I know of true love for you have nothing but loved me for all that I am, and all that I shall become. Your unconditional care for me grants me such serenity and security. You make me smile. With you, I am genuinely happy. You bring peace to my mind. You believe in me. You have always believed in me. Your support and faith in me grants me all the inspiration I need to be the best of my abilities. You make me celebrate life every day. You make me thankful and grateful. You make me humble and honest. You make my heart sing. Your courage makes me brave and your strength makes me strong. You are my honor. You are my pride. You are my favorite flower in the gardens of beauty. You are simply all that I aspire to be. I wish to grant you the best of all worlds. I wish for you to always be safe. I pray that you shed no more tears. I pray that you bear no more fears. I pray for your eternal happiness. I pray for your success in all that you do. I wish for you to smile and forever be your lovely self. Thank you for being the woman of my dreams. Thank you for being my one true friend. Thank you for being all that you are. My beloved mother; my heart is yours, a thousand times over. “Her hands held me gently from the day I took my first breath. Her hands helped to guide me as I took my first step. Her hands held me close when the tears would start to fall. Her hands were quick to show me that she would take care of it all. Her hands were there to brush my hair, or straighten a wayward bow. Her hands were often there to comfort the hurts that didn't always show. Her hands helped hold the stars in place, and encouraged me to reach. Her hands would clap and cheer and praise when I captured them at length. Her hands would also push me, though not down or in harms way. Her hands sometimes had to discipline, to help bend this young tree. Her hands would shape and mold me into all she knew I could be. Her hands are now twisting with age and years of work. Her hand now needs my gentle touch to rub away the hurt. Her hands are more beautiful than anything can be. Her hands are the reason I am me.” --- From Susan Sacirbey Become a Facebook Friend: “Susan Sacirbey” and “Diplomatically Incorrect” Follow on TWITTER @DiplomaticallyX See Current News Event Articles: “I Dream of a Bosnia & Herzegovina Which Is In Peace With Itself, By Naida Sekic diplomaticallyincorrect.org/films/blog_post/i-dream-of-a-bosnia-and-herzegovina-which-is-in-peace-with-itself/46542 “In the Depth of Winter, Within Me There Lay an Invincible Summer, By Naida Sekic diplomaticallyincorrect.org/films/blog_post/in-the-depth-of-winter-within-me-there-lay-an-invincible-summer/46779 See online video platform Humanitarian Channels: diplomaticallyincorrect.org/c/humanitarian More popular video blogs at Bosnia Channels: diplomaticallyincorrect.org/c/bosnia and Diplomatically Incorrect Channels: diplomaticallyincorrect.org/c/diplomatically-incorrect
