"Her" Review

I believe never before there has been an artificially intelligent being, so overwhelmingly tender, innocent and sexy! I’m wondering if it has to do with the fact that we actually don’t see HER.

“Her” stars Joaquin Phoenix as Theodore Twombly. A man that seems long lost and hopeless, coming from a recent breakup. Scarlett Johansson plays the voice of Samantha, the first artificially intelligent operative system ever made, and Amy Adams is Theodore’s childhood loving friend.

In a nutshell, “Her” is a melancholic love story exquisitely written, acted and directed. The cinematography and the music work hand by hand, sometimes like a music video, medium that director Spike Jonze masters fully.

But not because of that, the movie has earned 5 academy award nominations. “Her”, as all great cinema, talks to us about something deeper. It talks to us about the love we have for others and to ourselves, and where is the line between these two. It talks us about necessities and dependencies we have on other people and the conflicts these represent. And ultimately about how alone and together we really are.
