The United States used a massive atomic weapon against Hiroshima in Japan. This atomic bomb was equivalent of 20,000 tons of TNT flattened the city killing thousands of civilians. While Japan was still trying to figure out this mass destruction three days, later the United States struck again on Nagasaki.

On 6 August 1945, at 2.45 am, a B-29 bomber took off from Tinian 1,500 miles south of Japan. The twelve-man crew was on board to make sure this top-secret operation went smoothly. Two other bombers that carried cameras and a variety of measuring devices escorted. Three other planes had left prior in order to find out the weather conditions over the targets.

On a hook in the ceiling of the plane ten-foot atomic bomb was hanged which was created using uranium-235, a radioactive isotope of uranium. This uranium-235 atomic bomb was never been tested.

2/3 of Hiroshima was destroyed. Within three miles of the explosion, 60,000 buildings demolished. Clay covering tiles had melted as one. Darkness had embossed on buildings and other hard surfaces. Metal and stone had melted.

As like many other bombing raids, the goal for this raid was to bombed the entire city. The bomb that exploded over Hiroshima killed inhabitant women and children in adding to soldiers. According to rough estimate, Hiroshima's population at that time was 350,000; more or less 70,000 died right away from the explosion and another 70,000 died from radiation within five years.
