A major international randomized clinical trial conducted by a group of researchers on HIV-infected individuals show that if the victims given antiretroviral drugs as soon as they are diagnosed with the virus, there is a considerably lower risk of developing AIDS because still then their CD4+ T-cell count which is a key measure of immune system health remains higher in their body. So, their suggestion to the medical fraternity is to start antiretroviral drugs as soon as HIV-infection is confirmed.
HIV infection should be effectively treated with antiretroviral drugs in early stages.
