Holly Holm Captures UFC Belt In Major Upset!

Posted on at

Holly Holm captured the 135 pound title in perhaps the biggest upset in UFC history by knocking out Ronda Rousey via hard kick in 59 seconds of the 2nd round. According to Bouncer Chronicles, Rousey never seemed to be in the fight, getting out-boxed before being knocked unconscious in front of a record crowd of 59,214.

Holm dominated Rousey from the start as Ronda tried to out-box Holm, who was 33-2-2 as a pro boxer. Rousey was an Olympic medalist in Judo and had won 9 of her last 12 MMA fights by submission. Holm was masterful, keeping Rousey from her take-down game by circling and moving from side. As the fight progressed, Rousey seemed to be getting frustrated. At one point, Rousey missed with a wild left hook that Holm easily ducked under. A few seconds later she looked dazed and fatigued and she toppled to the ground after taking a vicious kick to the head from Holm.

A rematch is already in the works.
