Have you ever had to come up with a story but get that immediate writer’s block? I have too, but with these ten simple tips you will be able to make a storyline for any project.
- Step one would be to get comfortable and close your eyes. This may seem strange but from experience closing my eyes helped me focus.
- Once you have closed your eyes and taken deep breaths, imagine a setting. It can be somewhere that is near to you or totally made up.
- Then place two characters into that environment. If possible make the characters opposites, as they attract and retain the audiences attendance.
- Ok so you have your characters and the environment. The next step is to create a prop; this can be in the hands of one or they could share this prop.
- Every story needs a trigger or a conflict. So the characters/environment/prop need to interact in order to create conflict. A sense of danger if you will.
- Bring the story to a point where there is no return. This will add to the tension of the story, as the audience sees no way of getting out of the situation.
- Now you have all of the pieces, it is just a case of tying it together. In this last part we find a solution to the conflict. For example this could be a misunderstanding with the security.
- Open your eyes and write the story down, this will help you remember and reflect.
There you go the basic structure of a story is in front of you. The only step to do now is to iron out the mistakes and make it more realistic to your budget.
