If you want a flavor of rosemary oil or oil for the next steak salad with almonds sophisticated, no need to invest in expensive products. The basic ingredients you can prepare your own flavored oils, in more varied types than in the store.
You have not dared to pay a fabulous sum on a bottle of oil infused with herbs, citrus fruit or nuts. That does not mean you can not have your own kitchen. You can prepare simple and then use it as a secret ingredient for salads, pasta, seafood and other dishes.
Remember before you plunge:
Store in refrigerator flavors only. The taste will keep for a month.
Let stand at room temperature about 20 minutes before use.
Do not use aromatic oils for frying at high temperatures.
If you do gift, give them a set of instructions for storage and helpful suggestions. Perhaps not everyone is passionate kitchen just like you.
How to produce aromatic oils at home?
You need a blender or a food processor, pots, a colander or sieve bottles with suitable plugs.
Choose good quality oils you usually have on hand. Olive oil is the best choice because it can combine perfectly with lots of flavors. You can try grape seed oil or the avocado. They taste and flavor less pronounced than olive.
Choose your favorite brew flavors: from spices and herbs, citrus seed to oil (walnuts, almonds, pistachios). Remember that you will need 1 ½ tablespoons of flavors chosen for each 200ml of oil used.
Spice oils
Use your choice or combined flakes pepper, cloves, curry, anise, cardamom, mustard seeds, cumin, fennel seeds, cinnamon.
Heat oil in a pot with spices used (whole or ground) for 5 minutes. Leave it to cool and then strain it through a sieve and put it in the bottle.
Oils with herbs
Try the flavors of basil, cilantro, chives, tarragon, mint, thyme, rosemary or sage.
Use only fresh herbs that have a more intense flavor and vibrant color will give an oil. Wash herbs and dry them well. Basil and coriander should be blanched, drained and mashed in a blender with oil before you put them in a pot on the fire to warm. Thyme and rosemary can be heated directly with oil. Follow the same steps as in the case of oils infused with spices.
Citrus oils
Use lemon or orange, lime, grapefruit, kumquat.
Clean peel of citrus chosen, taking care not to have and the white, which is bitter. Put it together with the oil over medium heat for 5 minutes, then let the mixture cool. If you just want a delicate flavor and oil without impurities, remove the shells before you leave the oil to cool. When moderated, strain it and put it in bottles.
Oils with nuts, peanuts and other oily seed
An infused with almond oil is not the same as almond oil, obtained by pressing almonds. To make infused oils buy walnuts, almonds, peanuts, pistachios or pecans raw and unsalted. Put them in oil on medium heat for 5 minutes. Then leave it to cool. No need to crawl before you put in bottles.
