Peeling is the natural maintenance mechanism that the skin uses to get rid of dead skin cells. Of course, there are a lot of factors which may lead to this but accordingly, some with healthy skin, the process of peeling happens gradually.
When the skin peels excessively, it can sometimes expose new layers of skin prematurely. This may lead to skin being reddish or sensitive. But, in many cases, peeling skin also means skin damage.
There are a lot of causes why this skin condition may seem to appear, and the level of process may depend on the following factors:
1. Sunburn.
You lie out in the sun hoping to get a golden tan, but instead walk away from your lounge chair looking like a lobster that's been left in the pot too long. Too much exposure from sun may cause to break your skin unevenly.
2. Allergies and Infection.
Peeling skin can be an indication for an immune system disorder.
3. Astringents.
In Pharmacology, it is a topical agent (e.g., aluminum-based compounds) that can be variably used: as topical haemostatics, to precipitate proteins, reduce mucosal inflammation, toughen skin, promote healing, as antiseptics, and to act as antiperspirants. But usually, some of these products may come strong and causes excessive peeling for days. It's characterized as its adverse effect.
The good news is, there are also a lot of remedies to ease such problem. And I can assure you that these all works. I have tried all these treatments when I go through this process and I find all of these pretty effective so I am sharing all these to you.
1. Moisturizer.
Facial moisturizer can enhance the functioning of the uppermost layer of skin. This layer is made up of fats, oil, and skin cells that help keep moisture in the skin. This would prevent the skin from drying out. They also contains sunscreen which would protect the skin from damage.
2. Home Remedies.
Some people, like me, preferred to treat this problem by using agents that could be easily seen at home. This is for the reason that some may not find solutions available in the market. Natural remedies for peeling skin can be big help, as they pose little to no risk of side effects. They also require little effort and almost no expense, as they can be prepared using basic cooking ingredient.
a. Olive/ Castor/ Almond/ Coconut Oils
These oils can be used as a moisturizer and can be a main ingredient for facial masks. Extreme dry skin should be massaged to face in circular motion and apply it during night to reduce patchy, dry and peeling problems.
b. Lemon Juice.
Can be used as a scrub, this will help u eliminate dead skin cells (peeled skin).
c. Banana with Honey.
The mixture can be used as a facial mask. Apply the mixture to affected area and leave for 10- 20 minutes and wash thoroughly. The effect can be seen instantly, as it leaves your skin soft where the peeling areas are visible before application.
3. Seek medical advise.
As I have pointed out earlier that peeling skin is an indication of disorder, if you have notice that even how many times u have applied the above remedies and still the peeling continuous for long it is at this phase that you need to seek professional medical advise to treat the matter.
It is really important to take good care of your skin, you need to avoid those foods which would trigger this from happening and also do avoid too much exposure from sun. If you do have the urge of spending summer at the beach and get yourself tan, do not forget to put moisturizer with sunscreen all over your face and body. Always remember that, beautiful skin begins with exceptional skin care.
