GoPro for non-pros?

Aside from the Desire Eye, HTC also announced their newest product – the Re. The Re is a small camera that’s positioned by the company as a “GoPro for the rest of us”, allowing regular folks to capture important moments without the distraction of using a large device like a phone or a camera. The Re acts like any other camera, sporting a 1/2.3-inch Sony CMOS sensor that can capture 16-megapixel photos and full HD videos.  The 146-degree wide-angle lens allows you take in a wide FOV, and much like the GoPro, the Re is water resistant so you can take it with you underwater.

Since the Re, which kind of shaped like a small periscope only has two buttons, you control the device via an app that’s available for both the iPhone and Android. Your mobile device acts like the viewfinder for the Re, and you can view the photos and videos that the Re captures though it.

The Re will be priced when it officially hits stores in the US at $199 when it hits this holiday season.
