The Hyundai Equus also known as Hyundai Centennial in parts of Central Asia and Middle East is the flagship luxury sedan from the house of Korean auto giant Hyundai Motors. Pronounced as Hyndai ‘ek-was’, the car gets its title from the Latin word of equus signifying a powerful horse. Hyundai Equus is the refined designer version of the company’s first generation of luxury sedans initially conceptualized in the early 2000’s. The Flagship Hyundai Equus was first released in 2009 and competes with the ultra luxury sedans like Lexus, Mercedes E-class and BMW 5 series. Based on a rear wheel drive platform, Hyundai Equus is one of the most expensive luxury sedans from the house of Hyundai.
