Bangladesh have been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during their Pool A match against England in the ICC World Cup at the Adelaide Oval on Monday, an ICC press release said.

The subcontinental team, led by Mashrafe Mortaza, registered a shock 15-run win to ensure its passage into the quarterfinals for the first time in history.Mortaza pleaded guilty to the "minor" offence after the match; however, if he commits another such offence in the tournament, he will receive a one-match suspension.

"Ranjan Madugalle of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees imposed the fine after Mashrafe Mortaza's side was ruled to be two overs short of its target when time allowances were taken into consideration," the release said.

"In accordance with Article 2.5.1 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Players Support Personnel, which relates to minor over-rate offences, players are fined 10 per cent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, with the captain fined double that amount. As such, Mashrafe was fined 40 per cent of his match fee, while his players received 20 per cent fines," it added.
