Do you know someone close to you who has a big Birthday coming up? I have been thinking about what to do for my husband's 50th Birthday next year. Do you have any ideas on what I can do for him? Have you planned a surprise Birthday before? What did you do?

I have a few ideas, but I am still unsure about them. Here are my ideas so far:

1. Las Vegas - I know he has always wanted to go to Las Vegas, because he loves playing poker and regularly plays in tournaments at a local casino where we live. This would make a brilliant surprise for him, because I know he really wants to visit there one day. I thought of booking a one week trip to Las Vegas to stay in a decent hotel, but this works out to be very expensive. I thought of booking an apartment, which might be a lot cheaper, as another couple who are our closest friends may come with us. If you know of any good deals for Las Vegas, then please feel free to let me know.

2. A Cruise - I thought a cruise might be a great way to surprise him, because there are many cruises available these days. I have been watching a television channel on Sky TV called Holiday+Cruise where they show some interesting cruises. The one thing about a cruise is that you can get everything included in the price. The food is included, the entertainment and the bonus of being able to visit some lovely places along the way. I really like the sound of a cruise. What do you think?

3. A Party - The only other thing I can think of is having a surprise party for him and inviting everyone that I can think of that knows him. Even family that he hasn't seen in a long time. I know a party is always a nice way to celebrate with great friends and family, but my husband is not the sort of person to want something like this.
