As you may have read in my last blog, I am currently producing a web series (Coming to your screens this Summer!), and trying to help get some funding for it, through a 'Crowd Funding' website.
Now, to make a crowd funding campaign, you need to include a video of yourself! You don't HAVE to, but to make the audience trust you, its almost essential. So its a HUGE thing to consider. How should you present yourself, what you should say, should you ask, beg, or persuade? Should you be serious and risk coming across as boring or unadventurous, or should you try and use humour and risk coming across as 'aloof' and untrustworthy?
Social media also plays huge part in this. Should you use a company twitter account, a personal one, or one specifically for the series? Should you also create a facebook page, or will that scatter your fans too much? And then when you've decided that, what tone do you use? And how do you ensure you're not posting too much or too little?
This is my own twitter profile... I tried to give off a fun feel, but it might be a little untrustworthy or giving off the wrong impression to potential investors... I keep this one Private!
Jack, also goes for the lighthearted and fun tone, using wallpaper from toy story and a joke as his tagline. This works perfectly for his target audience and he has been extremely sucessful! So perhaps we should go a little down this route... its getting the right line!
Of course, there's no right or wrong answer to any of this. It all depends on the company, the people, and whatever you're creating. But it can be so hard to consider all this when trying to come up with your identity, and at the beginning of it all! Often its something that just falls into place.
I was hoping to hear your opinions on this and who you think has been successful in campaigns and identities? Who promotes themselves well, and who has been throroughly unsuccessful?
Any thoughts appreciated! And welcomed!
