For people to want to take the time to get to know you, you must be willing to do the same. Showing interest in the lives of others shows people that you care. With this many people are attracted to getting to know you because you were willing to take the steps to get know them first. 

If you are at a point in your life in which you seek to build relationships of value, knowing this principle is key. To do this you have to be sincere. Ask people about themselves, learn their names, and learn about a few things that seem to be important to them. Make sure to ask as many questions as possible and to also try to retain as much information about your new friends. In doing so you will show them how authentic you are on top of how you could add value to their lives now because of your interesting demeanor. 

There are many opportunities to make new friends each day, and we should take advantage of doing this as much as possible. Remember, what you put out, you will attract.
