Immigration experience

Posted on at

My first travel outside of the country was in Singapore. A wish that is unexpectedly granted. With me is my Mom and Dad. Tension caught me while waiting for my turn for the immigration officer. I handed our passports and the tickets to the immigration officer in Mactan Cebu International Airport. The officer examined individually the document. She then asked me if it was my first time to travel outside of the country. I then replied: Yes Ma’am. The question was seconded by: Do you work here? I said: Yes I do. From what company? ACS of the Philippines Ma’am. Okay, do you have the necessary papers to prove it? I then gave her all my papers: Company certificate that indicates I am still connected with them, company ID, and my signed leave form. She reviewed all the papers then she asked what documents does my brother have. So I gave her the letter of invitation from my brother, company ID and his S-Pass ID. My heart beats so rapidly and my mind kept on praying Lord please help us get through with this interview. To my surprise she then handed me our passports and said have a nice trip…WHAT A RELIEF upon hearing those words. So happy that at last I will get to explore the place that I long been wanting to visit. The flight took almost 4 hours.  We arrived there at 12mn and I was amazed with their airport. I can’t help but compare it with our airports. It was so clean. My first time to use a walkalator. But upon approaching the immigration officer, my hands are shaking again. She is an Indian Officer. I only handed my own passport because my parents were on the senior citizens queue. To my surprise the officer said my full name and I answered back yes ma’am then stamped my passport. THAT’S IT, got my visit pass already. WOW that was too fast, compared to what I’ve been through at Cebu’s immigration officer. With my parents, the officers never questioned them, they just looked at my parents then stamped. The Immigaration Officer in Singapore is very much confident that I will only stay within the given period but Filipino Immigration officer took me on a hot seat before giving me the pass. Well, I guess because it's my first time and she's just doing her job.
