Most of the people find difficulty in sleeping at night. They want to sleep after working all day but they would not be able to sleep and stay awake for the whole night. Many people must be aware of that disorder. I am going to discuss the sleeping disorder named insomnia. What is Insomnia? What are its causes? How to get rid of insomnia? All these questions are answered in that blog.
After working all day, everyone wants to recharge his/her body for the next day through a sound sleep. But, some people failed to sleep at night. They go to bed by thinking that I am much tired I need some rest now but they stay awake. If this continuously happens with someone, he/she is having insomnia. "Insomnia, also known as sleeplessness, is a sleep disorder where people have trouble sleeping. They may have difficulty falling asleep, or staying asleep as long as desired. Insomnia is typically followed by daytime sleepiness, low energy, irritability, and a depressed mood. It may result in an increased risk of motor vehicle collisions, as well as problems focusing and learning. Insomnia can be short term, lasting for days or weeks, or long term, lasting more than a month."

Insomnia is basically a sleep disorder in which the affected person would not be able to sleep at night. It’s a state of restlessness in which person did not feel fresh every morning. Some people cannot sleep even for an hour while others wake up at midnight. Insomnia has different effects on different people. Every morning the person with insomnia feels weak and tired because he/she did not sleep well.

Due to lack of sleep person would not be able to work well. He/she always feel stress and pressure. This disorder somehow reduces your productivity.
Insomnia is not only a simple sleep disorder. It’s a very dangerous disease that can lead to severe problems. Insomnia is just the beginning of an alarming situation which varies from person to person. It can be short term, long term and even chronic.
But you must be thinking that what is the reason behind insomnia? The causes of insomnia are discussed next.
**Causes of insomnia**
Before going for the treatment of insomnia, knowing the root cause is necessary. You need to observe why you are having this order in order to work for it. Mostly insomnia is because of some emotional reasons. While our habits also lead to insomnia. Drinking coffee or tea excessively at daytime is one of the common causes. If you are addicted to tea or coffee, try to reduce its amount. While some most basic causes of insomnia are:

About 75% of the people got insomnia because of stress and anxiety. We people pay a lot of attention and stress towards very minor problems like presentation, break up, project etc. Instead of working smoothly we get stress and repeatedly think about the same thing over and over again. Due to this reason, most people lead towards insomnia. This type of insomnia is temporary and you get out of it after getting things done. It is called acute insomnia and it lasts for only days and weeks.

The different disease can also contribute to insomnia like allergy, cancer, kidney problems etc. These diseases cause pain in the body due to which person would not be able to sleep well at night.

Sometimes medicines and drugs cause insomnia. Different medicines we take for a cough or flu contain such chemicals which cause restlessness. Maybe in some conditions, insomnia is because of medicines.

The good thing about insomnia is you don’t need to consult a specialist or a doctor for that. Instead, you can treat insomnia by yourself by changing your routine or habits. Once the accurate cause of insomnia is picked up, you can easily treat it and get rid of it. Some easy remedies for getting rid of insomnia are:
>>Maintain a sleep schedule

Make a timetable for sleeping and waking up in the morning. Follow this timetable each day so that your biological system also gets used to of it. Don’t change your sleeping hours each day; you have to keep in mind that at a specific time you must be in bed.
>>Your bedroom must be quite

Create a peaceful environment in your bedroom like lights off, no noise etc. that will help you in sleeping tightly. Use comfortable mattress and pillow in your bedroom so that it may not affect your sleep. Keep your windows open so that fresh air will help you fight insomnia. Anything that is making you uncomfortable during sleeping, just remove it.
>>Don’t use gadgets at bed

One of the reasons of sleeplessness is the use of gadgets at night because it reduces the production of melatonin. If you wouldn’t be able to sleep don’t use phone or laptop because it will never help you in fighting insomnia. Put everything on the side when you decide to go to bed.
>>Don’t sleep in the daytime

Sleeping in afternoon will make it difficult for you to sleep at night. Don’t make yourself use too of naps because it will never get you out of insomnia. If you really want to get rid of insomnia just forget naps and keep yourself awake for the whole day.
These are the tips that might help you in fighting insomnia. Try to follow them I am sure you will get out of this disorder soon.
**Some precautions**
These are some precautions that will help you in sound sleep:
- Don’t use liquids just before going to bed it will disturb you at night. Every drink you want to take either milk or water, take it one hour before going to bed.
- Reduce the intake of caffeine because it is the major cause of insomnia. You should not take caffeinated beverages after 6:00 PM.
- Don’t eat too much at night. Take a very short dinner because heavy meals can create stomach problems. Avoid eating spicy foods because it can cause heartburn.
