The goal is to deliver instruments (recorders, winds, strings, keyboard and percussion) and teaching materials and to begin teaching some basic note-reading skills and instruction on the instruments, with the aim of training future musical leaders . Steinel states “on this trip, we aim to plant the seeds of music education in an area where the children have limited horizons and little hope.”
The local concert on June 29th, with free admission, will feature a wide variety of music and musicians. Hoch is a classical soprano and Steinel a jazz trumpeter. Those attending the event will be given the opportunity to donate funds or instruments. All funds raised will be for the purchase of new instruments and materials, or to repair used instruments.
