More affordable Zenfone 5?
ASUS PH has posted a teaser image on their Facebook page of a new Zenfone 5 model, the Zenfone 5 Lite. It’s not surprising that ASUS will want to capitalize on their Zenfone 5, as it’s currently one of the best selling smartphones here in the PH, which isn’t surprising as we found out ourselves in our review. Our experience with any device bearing the Lite moniker has always been a cheaper, less feature packed model, and it stands to reason that the Zenfone 5 Lite may just be that. A little birdie told us that this new smartphone may retail a little below the Zenfone 5’s current Php 6,499 SRP, and may possibly come in at just Php 5,595. The Zenfone 5 Lite will still retain Intel’s SoC as per the photo, which may mean that the company is using a slower clocked Atom chip for the new device. We will post updates to this story as we find out more about this mystery smartphone.
[EDIT] Eagle eyed users went trawling in ASUS’ product page and found a variant of the Zenfone 5 that may fit the “Lite” moniker.
