Urad dhal |
500 gms |
Sugar | 1 kg |
Cooking oil | 1 kg |
colour powder (for colouring) | Half teaspoon |
Steps
* Soak urad dhal for 30 minutes – 1 hour. Then grind it to a smooth batter. Heat oil in a pan, and squeeze out the batter through a square thick cloth of 10″ x l0″, with a small hole in the centre, into circular shapes. Fry until golden brown; remove from the oil and add to the sugar syrup.
* Make a thin sugar syrup by adding 1 cup of water to the sugar and bringing it to boil until all the sugar is dissolved. Add the kesari powder to the syrup to get the rich orange colour.
* After soaking in the syrup for 5 minutes, remove and drain jangari and place over plate.
* Now its ready to be served to the Lord
Tips: For best results the batter should be squeezed out in the hot oil immediately after grinding
