Rap mogul Jay-Z just added another title to his growing financial empire. He has long been associated with Armand de Brignac, or the champagne known as "Ace of Spades," and now he owns it, according to Bouncer Chronicles. Details are murky but Jay-Z now has a huge stake in the bubbly brand produced by Champagne Cattier, a French vintner since 1763.
Champion experts put the brand worth between $25 and $30 million while wholesale bottles of "Ace of Spades" go for $225. Zack O'Malley Greenburg suggests the champagne generates $13 million and uses an industry multiple of over 2 times actual sales so "Ace of Spades" is actually worth over $28 million.
In his 2011 book, Greenburg estimates production costs of the champagne at $13 a bottle which translates into a 94% profit margin!
