Jessica Chastain, considered an Oscar-frontrunner for Best Actress ("Zero Dark Thirty") this awards season, can now add the title Box-Office Queen. Her Universal horror flick, "Mama," topped the box-office weekend with $28.1 million, and blasted Arnold Schwarzenegger's "The Last Stand" which flopped at No. 10 with, gasp, $6.3 million! Even the lukewarm actioner, "Broken City," starring Mark Wahlberg and Russell Crowe easily beat Schwarzenegger and debuted at No. 6 with $9 million.
Previous weekend's box-office champ, Kathryn Bigelow's "Zero Dark Thirty" also starring Chastain, fell to No.2 with $17.6 million.
In the international market, "Django Unchained" was the leader of the pack with $48.1 million, followed by "Life of Pi" with $20.7 million, and then "Les Miserables" at No. 3 with $19.4 million.
