Bouncer Chronicles reports New York Jets backup line backer, Ikemefuna Enemkpli, broke the jaw of starting quarterback Gino Smith after practice yesterday. The quarterback is expected to miss the next 6 -10 weeks. Enemkpli was cut by the team immediately after the incident. Smith, who is 24, was taken to the hospital from the Jets training camp.
According to our sources, the altercation started over a $600 plane ticket that Enemkpli purchased for Smith to attend his youth football camp in Texas. Smith chose not to attend the camp at the last minute because one of his friends was killed in a motor cycle accident the same week. Tempers flared yesterday in the locker room when Enemkpli demanded reimbursement for the plane ticket.
