Everyone has ideas - Chris Saunders, a filmmaker and photographer based in Johannesburg – included. During a one-year residency at Fabrica, United Colors of Benetton’s Creative Research Facility in 2009, he was introduced to the culture of the African continent, which led him to making a film about the people and culture of Johannesburg called JoBurg Party, showing his take on life in South Africa over 48 hours.
According to Design Indaba where he is interviewed he is working on a book, “that highlights the history of Pansula, a new language and a new way of dressing for South Africans.” Chris’ idea came from within himself and his manifestation of his interests to the world now gives people an opportunity to see a historic culture from another perspective. Saunders advice, “stay busy, go and work in a pizzeria or a restaurant…do whatever you have to do to have money, a little financial freedom to do what you want in your life.”
