Kadi jets off to Cyprus...
Posted on at
Only just back from Georgia, our Festival Manager Kadi Lokk is jetting off again! This time she is off to Cyrus to check out the International Short Film Festival there.
The festival
The International Short Film Festival of Cyprus aims to increase and accentuate the prominence of the short film genre. The Ministry of Education and Culture of Cyprus is funding a substantial number of short films every year and is constantly encouraging and helping young and established filmmakers to produce films, create co-productions and develop liaisons with other filmmakers around the world. By presenting an interesting variety of international short film productions, it serves as a popular meeting point for filmmakers and aspires to establish Cyprus as a meeting point for filmmakers from all over the word.
The primary focus of the festival in Limassol is its International Competition and National Competition. Fictional, animated shorts and documentaries up to a maximum of 25 minutes compete for the festival’s awards and prizes.
In addition to the competition sections, the festival week provides an extensive range of special programmes and events that aim to educate and entertain. These include retrospectives, tributes to individual film makers and/or specific genres, children’s programmes, seminars, workshops, masterclasses and of course, parties.
The Place
As well as working hard and seeing all that the festival has to offer, Kadi also hopes to find time to explore Limassol, the host city.
Limassol is the second largest city in Cyprus located in Acrotiri Bay on the island’s southern coast. The city is renowned for its long cultural tradition, and visitors and tourists can enjoy a wide spectrum of activities, museums, archeological sites and medieval castle, as well as Luxurious hotels, high quality restaurants and night clubs which thrive along the seaside road. In the old town of Limassol visitors can enjoy shopping and visit unique bars and tavernas to taste the excellent Cypriot Kitchen.
All in all, the festival and location sounds amazing – looks like Kadi will have a great time!
