Lahore Literary Festival unveils new two-day schedule

After a day of intense deliberation a revised and truncated schedule for the Lahore Literary Festival has been announced.

Yesterday it was revealed that the Lahore Literary Festival (LLF) which was scheduled to begin on Friday will now commence on Saturday, February 20 and conclude on Sunday, February 21. The event's venue has also been altered; the festival was originally meant to be held at the Alhamra but is now due to take place at the Avari hotel in Lahore.

LLF's organisers stated that the changes were made in accordance with advice from the Punjab government.

The new schedule aims to make up for what programmes were to take place on Day 1, and as such, begins earlier than the previously scheduled time.

On Saturday, LLF will kick off with a talk by Indian actress Sharmila Tagore. For the most part four sessions will run simultaneously. The festival will conclude on Saturday with a play featuring Imran Aslam and Rehana Saigol, and on Sunday will sign off with a qawaali.

Authors and panellists tweeted their support for LLf earlier today as organisers scrambled to ensure that the festival went ahead despite the change of venue.
