Laoag - Batac Empanada
This Orange-colored food has been my comfort food aside from Isaw, BBQ, kwek-kwek or any other street foods there. This food can already satisfy my hunger If I could only skip rice for the rest of my life, this will be my foo for daily basis. =)
Ilocos Empanadas have fillings of green papaya, mung beans, longanisa or the authentic Ilocano sausage and egg yolk enclosed in thin and crisp dough.
Having regularly eaten Empanada in Laoag before, we include the entire egg, both the white and the yolk. What’s more interesting is you can choose between 2 variants of the Ilocos Empanada. The original empanada which makes use of the savory Ilocos longanisa or sweet empanada which makes use of the Vigan sweet longanisa.
Because I’m not much of a sweet tooth, I prefer the original Ilocos Empanada and because it tastes better with sukang Iloco.
