Previously I had written 3 blogs about Lathe Machine. In these blogs I told you about its definition, working principal, structure, part and their details also. Today we I want to tell you about its major and minor operation which we can easily on simple lathe machine. Enough operations which we can be done on lathe but we will discuss here some easily operations….So, Here we go…
Turning:
Turning is a machining process in which a single point tool removes material from the surface of a rotating cylindrical work piece. This means that it reduces cylindrical work piece diatmerte. A special type of cutting tool is used in this operation.
Facing:
Tool is fed radically inward. Facing is a machining process in which a single point tool removes material from the edges of a rotating cylindrical work piece. This means that it reduces cylindrical work piece length. A special type of cutting tool is used in this operation.
Boring:
For enlargement of the internal holes boring operation is performed. Boring is performed on the inside diameter of an existing hole. After boring operation hole will be existing internally. A special type boring tool is used in this operation.
Turning is performed on the outside diameter of an existing cylinder.
In effect, boring is an internal turning operation.
Drilling:
Drilling operation is performed where we want holes in our work pieces. It creates a round hole in our required work part. A special type drilling tool is used in this operation which called Drills.
Contrasts with boring which can only enlarge an existing hole.
Threading:
Due to this threading operation we can be done threads on our cylindrical wok part. Pointed form tool is fed linearly across surface of rotating work part parallel to axis of rotation at a large feed rate, thus creating threads. A special type threading tool is used in this operation.
Knurling:
Knurling is an special type operation where we removed finished in our work parts. So, that’s why parts will be grips easily. A knurling tool is used to press a pattern onto a round section. The pattern is normally used as a grip for a handle.
