Bouncer Chronicles reports a popular mid-town NYC night club blasted music so loud that it caused serious hearing damage to one of its VIP hostess.
Margaret Clemente claims Lavo nightclub played the dance music so loud that it caused her hearing loss. The aspiring actress said her bosses pressured her to leave when she reported the problem to them. The hot spot has hosted several stars including Leonardo DiCaprio, Heidi Klum and Paris Hilton.
Attorneys Matthew Blit and Russell Moriarty filed the lawsuit this week in Manhattan Civil Court.
Clemente has worked at the club for over two years, earning forty two dollars an hour plus roughly five hundred dollars a night in tips. Her suit claims Lavo management refused to provide hearing aids to workers after numerous complaints from Clemente. The owner did provide cheap ear plugs to staffers while providing themselves with custom made plugs that were better at preventing hearing damage.
Clemente indicated it was getting harder and harder to communicate on the job using her work radio and earpiece. When she asked her bosses to be moved to a quieter section of the bar or even outside the door, her requests were ignored.
The suit also claims in September of 2012 her bosses started to act out against her because of the hearing disability that she suffered on the job working at Lavo.
Lavo management did not return phone calls seeking comment regarding the suit.
