I finally got a day off to go see Lee Daniels' The Butler. I don't know why but it seems I alwayforget stuck sitting by the rudest movie goers. So for the first 15 minutes of the movie I was next to a guy who talked, texted and even was rude to his date (who left the theatre) and to put it all off this guy was in his 50s! My fellow movie goers got angry and the guy moved. (Thank god) It's funny because the movie he was here to see was about hate and ignorance.
Anyways back to my review, the film stars Forest Whitaker and Oprah Winfrey Who as always give a great performance. Spanning over 80 years Lee Daniels' directs the retelling of one man's life from growing up on a cotton farm to serving many presidents. Foresst Whitaker's charachter for many years keeps his nose down and does his job while his son fights for freedom. Eventially his character sees the "light" and stands up with his son. Oprah plays Foresst's wife bringing laughter and wisdom to the film. I laughed and I cried watching this film. I hope Lee Daniels and the cast will be nominated for many awards.
