Level 6 Crewing - 4

Is it worth it?

This shoot was great to work on, the crew were well looked after and although it was a bit rocky to start off with it finished off well. I worked with people I didn't really know and I really took on the role of lighting technician. The camera op and I worked closely together, she was a great help and knew some things that I didn't. It was a great learning experience, I was shooting outdoors at night with LED's, tungsten lights, soft boxes and thoroughly enjoyed it. I used a range of different equipment in a role I am intrigued to learn more about.

The shoot itself was quite rocky to start with, the weather wasn't on our side so we had to delay a scene for another day which is still to be confirmed. Other than this it was good, we worked well and to a schedule. it was good seeing everyone pull together when we needed, the crew wasn't large all of the time so when there were few people we all made sure we were keeping busy and doing something. My favourite scene of the day was by far the last one, we shot in a garden for a 'garden party' scene. The scene was at night, so we had full control when playing around with the lights. we used candles, some LEDs and to light a lot of the scene we used a soft box.

It really was a great experience, I'm happy i was a part of it and i learnt a lot. Level 6 know a lot more about shoots than we do, having more experience is only going to keep improving my skills and no matter what department i work in, all knowledge is good and i will become a more adaptable member of the team.
