Level 6 Film Shoot: 1

"No friends but the mountains"

This is a non-fiction film, based on the stoke naan & convenient store "Zagros", the people who work there and mainly there backgrounds and a brief talk about their home.
I have to say this was probably my worst role to date but despite this i learnt a lot. I was a runner which wasn't really needed, the crew was large for what the project was, i was mainly used as a driver but the lessons i have learnt form watching are one of the main reasons I agreed to help.
I knew from watching the director and AD from this shoot could benefit me a lot. Seeing their drive to make a film, the angles they went for which brought the story together and last of all the order of it all. It was my first professional experience on a shoot.
Being a runner my main roles were watching kit, getting things when asked, making runs to the shop, driving and last of all carrying equipment. There was some great equipment on this shoot, it was shot with a RED camera with Zeiss lenses. The girl who used it is a camera trainee, she has much experience so was great to see how she organised everything, seeing the type of lenses she used for certain shots, organising memory cards and batteries. Tape was used a lot during the day, both black and white, white was used for memory cards along with black which was also used for batteries with no charge. Tape was again used for ND filters to organise them, making it easier to distinguish which one was which.
All in all, it was a great shoot, i took a lot from the experience, more than i had hoped due to my role but from every other shoot i had done it was all a big learning curve which i will take on to my last year.
