The world’s first resort airport is set to be constructed in the country’s second biggest gateway, Mactan-Cebu International Airport.

The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) held the groundbreaking ceremony of the planned construction of the new world-class passenger terminal building in Mactan, Cebu. The first ever resort airport  is set to be completed by 2018, giving travelers a bit of luxury. The renovation of the airport will also have additional immigration counters, self-service kiosk, LED lighting and centralized security check system.

According to Transportation Secretary Jun Abaya, the construction of the new international terminal will not only cement our place on the global map as a major tourist and business destination, it will boost the local economy and is projected to generate jobs especially in Cebu.
