Looking for work experience

Work Experience

I have found work experience hard to get during my time at university, i've never really felt like i have had the time to find it especially this semester when i thought it was the most important thing to get. I have always been busy with other modules, working on films and trying to find time to make my own. My film is a big part of my grade and i felt that it was rushed compared to the time we had just due to all the work i had.
Work experience is extremely valuable to me now. Now I have found a placement for summer when I have time I feel that I can now work on getting more. People will start to look at me more due to having experience and the more i get the more skilful i will become.

I feel finding experience is hard as you really need to stand out. I'm finding that covering letters are getting me more replies than just sending long emails. People will say i have taken time to tell them why i like the company and how i will fit in rather than just explaining what I'm good at and how i can impact them. A long descriptive email will just put people off, i can imagine industry professionals skim their emails, see what I'm asking of them and if my little line stands out then they will either save my email for later, or get back to me at some point when they have more time.
What i've took from emailing companies is to; keep your initial email small, send a covering letter as well as your CV, appeal to the company your appealing for and really send something that will make you stand out from the hundreds of other emails they receive. be unique.
