► Story

Splash Splash Love tells the story about a girl named Dan Bi as senior high school student who has to face pressure for her university entrance exam. This exam is very important to her and will determine the future of her life. When on her way to school to take exam she can't deal with the pressure from her surrounding and decide to runs off to a playground. It's rain so hard that day. She sit on the bench with so much thought, then she pray so that she can disappear from there. Suddenly, she hear a sound from the puddle near her as it called her and she decide to goes into that puddle.

She finds herself transported to Joseon period (Korean historical period) and she meets King Lee Do. He's a King who has difficult situation that time due to droughts and the spread of an epidemic. There has been 3 years since rain come to Joseon and that's the cause of those droughts and epidemic. Shortly, she was ordered to bring the rain, if not then she should be killed. Then she disguised as a man and was appointed as a eunuch and begin life in the kingdom as King Lee Do's man. She teach many things to the King such as math, astronomy, alphabet, etc. As they become closer to each others, their feelings start to grow.

Yoon Doo-Joon as King Lee Do

He plays as King Lee Do or commonly referred to King Sejong the Great. A wise king who successfully ruled Jeoson in comparison to the other Kings. Yoon Doo-Joon, who is a leader of the South Korean boy band named BEAST has successfully portray the figure of bold, funny, and charismatic King. Although he is an Idol-actor but he has gained recognition in terms of acting by South Korean netizen and people since he starred in the drama titled Let's Eat and Let's Eat Season 2. He also had a good chemistry with the main female lead who will add value to this drama in terms of romance.

Kim Seul-Gi as Jang Dan Bi

She plays a high school girl who suddenly transported to Jeoson era. She introduces herself as a Gosam which means a high school student, but people around her understand it as Eunuch because it has the same pronunciation. As a result, she had to pretend as a Eunuch in the palace and was assigned to teach the king in many ways.

Kim Seul-Gi be able to portray an unique character, funny, and cute at the same time. Since she starred in the drama Oh My Ghost, her name more known by the South Korean people and proved her acting ability. She also has been cast as a supporting role and cameo in many drama before.

♥ Supporting Role

A supporting role in this drama is also suitable portray their each characters. There are some new faces in this drama, such as Jin Ki-Joo and Ahn Hyo-Seop. Although they are still awkward and stiff in terms of their acting, but it is still understandable because covered by the power of the story, great chemistry, directing, and editing from this drama.

In this drama, there are also several senior actors that must already be familiar to Korean dramas fans or movies, such as the Lim Ye-Jin, which acts as a Dan Bi's mother, Kim Kap-Soo as the Palace Minister, and etc.

♫ Music

There are few songs that featured in this drama, because this is a short drama with 2 episodes only. Namely, a song titled Splashing to You (너에게 퐁당) by Kim Hyeong-Jung (김형중) and Remi (레미) with two different versions of songs and also songs with violin version of both. There is also a song titled Future (미래 (未來, 이도의 꿈)) sung by Jeong Ji Chan [One More Chance] (정지찬 [원모어찬스]). You can listen to this drama OST (Original Sountrack) on video below:

Although songs above several times played to accompany some of the scenes in the drama, the song is not very appealing to me and sounded mediocre like the soundtrack of mostly Korean drama. But I think it is enough to add value in this drama. Actually there is one song that appeals to me, where it was played when the farewell scene between the two main players, but this song is not included in the Original Soundtrack album of this drama, so I didn't know the song title. The instrument music used in this drama actually even interesting for me and its use is also matched with existing scene which will add a sense of emotional to audience.

☼ Splash Splash Love: Between Love, Choice, and Fate ☼

Although one of the drama genre is fantasy. But the characters and the story is based on real events and real history. Unless the story of a girl who comes from the future (Jang Dan Bi) and help the king about royal issues and royal technological development. King in this drama, King Lee Do or called by King Sejong the Great is the inventor of Hangul (Korean alphabet) which is used by Korean society today. He has also been influential in many areas during his rule as in the military, science, technology, and more.

Love is a complicated thing even for a people who have been equipped with intellect and feeling. That's what is experienced by King Lee Do since the arrival of Dan Bi in his world. He even confused by his own feelings that were probably the first time he experienced throughout his life. Although at first he hated Dan Bi but he began to admire her and without him knowing his admiration has grown to love in his heart.

Similarly, Dan Bi, a high school girl who came from the future to the past. She was initially only wanted to escape from the stresses in her life, but she had to stay near the king in order to save her life. Her feelings began to grow as time passed by and the closeness they spend. But there are things they do not realize that would await them in the future, when they have to face the fact that they are from two different worlds. Their choices will determine their love affair and when fate began to intervene in life, everything began to change.

Korean drama with romance-fantasy genre along with time travel genre has being a hit a few years ago in many station TV. Even so, every drama certainly has an unique and distinctive charm. If you like or are looking for a drama with light plot and with good chemistry between main couple, then Splash Splash Love is the answer. With a duration of approximately 2 hours, you will definitely enjoy watching this drama without being bored.
