Today I decided to venture out and Check out Sujana Super Market on the main road. I was able to find more fruit varieties than in Vijeytha and Heritage. I also got some frozen chicken, fish and samosas. I didn't get everything on my list because the milk was expiring today and the curd use by date passed last week. I decided to treat myself to a Magnum ice cream bar thinking I was going to catch the bus back to the complex. The supermarket was clean and neatly organized. The staff professional and helpful. I did not realize that I was supposed to get my produce weighed and priced before checking out. I should have realized this after visiting the More megastore in Banjara Hills. The woman kindly directed me to where I can get my produce weighed. The frozen foods cost the most unsurprisingly but the plums cost more than I expected. I wanted to go upstairs and check out what I assume to be the section for kitchen pots and pans but my basket was to heavy for me to further explore the store. This store also carries tim tams :)
On the walk to the bus stop I passed by a store that had interesting trinkets in it. I went in and looked around. The guy outside was helpful in showing me items that would be appropriate for a wedding gift. The lady in the store either does not speak English or does not understand my accent. I picked out a cute glass figurine because I was afraid that I would pick the wrong statue of a Hindu God. I am slowly learning more about Hindu Gods and Goddesses thanks to children's movies on youtube. I do not know which deity my friend and her fiance worship if that is the correct terminology. I know each family, village are have a particular deity. The woman wrapped the gift so nicely. I took a friend's advice to get a figurine though they suggested one of a god. While she was wrapping it up I was afraid the gift I picked is to small as I kept looking around the store but then I did not want to try and change the gift after having paid for it. The bigger figures where nice and of course costlier but then I was afraid it would break on the bus ride to Bangalore and also they were kind of heavy. In the end I decided I picked a suitable gift even though I still worry that it was to cheap but since this is my first Indian wedding I didn't want to get something so big that the bride and groom may not even like the figures. Unfortunately I had to make the 30 minute walk back and was thankful I got frozen chicken and fish that won't go bad in the heat compared to fresh meat.
