WHAT YOU WILL NEED

A large iron nail about 3 inches
3 feet long thin copper wire
A fresh battery (D size)
Some small magnetic objects

WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO

1.Take the wire and wrap it around the nail so that at the both two end of nail there should be some wire left to connect with battery.and try to not overlap the wire while wrapping.

2.Cut the spare wire and leave 8 inches wire at both of the ends.

3.Now remove the plastic coating about one inch from each end of the wire and connect the both with two ends of the battery as i show you in this picture.

4.Now you made the electromagnet, put the point of the nail near the small metallic pieces, it should pick them up.

NOTE:

When you are making electromagnet, check the battery if it become warm then disconnect the wires.
