You might be aware of Malala Yousafzai, a young Pakistani girl who was shot by the Taliban for campaigning for girls' education in the country. She was brought to England for treatment and got admitted into a school in Birmingham after recovery. Subsequently she was awarded a Nobel Prize for peace. When she had started attending the school in Birmingham, Jonathan Yeo, a British artist had painted a portrait of her. The portrait fetched more than $100,000 at auction in New York. The sale proceeds are going to the Malala Fund charity. The fund said the money would in turn be given to Nigerian nonprofits that focus on education for women and girls in the wake of the kidnapping of more than 300 schoolgirls in that country.
