“THALI” (tamil) or MANGAL SUTRA (Sanskrit) is among Tamils and Indians it is a symbols that connects as bond between men and women that they have entered into their marriage life. They meant to me each other once they toed up with the mangalyam(Thali).
In earlier form mangalyam was used to be with a piece of turmeric wood they tie it on the yellow tag which applied with turmeric. But in recent years they replaced it by with small pendent type gold which describes their religious symbols hanging from the same yellow tag. the mangala sutra celebrates the relationship between a husband and a wife and its for the long life of the husband
For, Tamils Thaali is the most respectable one for women, They used to take care of its as she owns it. When a woman wears it shows she has got married to man. Every day she used to prayers it with kumkum. They should not remove it until their husband’s alive.
.There are three knots in Thaali which represents and describes as follows..
The very first knot says,
“ Unity Between the husband and wife also the firm commitment to each other through the marital bondage. “
Second knot which symbolises the unification and firm commitment to
the two families
The third one, which is normally tied by the sister, is the reciprocal commitment and assurance of the boy's side to the girl's prosperity and wellbeing and the progeny brought through this bondage.
