Maserati regained its stature with the production of the 3200 GT series launched at the Paris Motor Show, the model being sold mostly in European countries and not brought to North America till the 4200 series was designed and produced. The four seater luxury coupe with handsome interiors was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro of the Merak, Quattroporte III and Bora fame. The assembly line was completely revamped and modernized to meet the international standards of automobiles, and the 3200 GT was the first to roll off the assembly line. 4795 vehicles were produced and two of them were used for a promo tour across Canada to get a peak of the future models, the 4200 series. Sold at $77,000 the 3200 GT was pretty affordable and the jet set also had a sportier configuration as an option.
